Apple Announces iPad

We’ve known about this device for a considerable amount of time, and now Apple has finally revealed its new tablet officially named iPad.

Apple CEO Steve Jobs on Wednesday unveiled the new device, a tablet computer that he called “a truly magical and revolutionary product.”

“What this device does is extraordinary,” Jobs said. “It’s the best browsing experience you’ve ever had. Way better than a laptop. Way better than a smartphone.”

The tablet will act as a sort of missing link between a smartphone and laptop. The model Jobs demonstrated at an invitation-only event in San Francisco operated without a hardware keyboard, with Jobs typing on its glass screen.

It has a nearly 10-inch screen, runs existing apps from the Apple apps store and is available in 16-gigabyte and 64-gigabyte versions, according to Jobs.

The company has been thinking of ways to bring such a device on the market since 1983, now it’s finally a reality. EA is very excited about the new gadget, hoping that it would help broaden the gaming market, especially to reach the many casual gamers who are not really into gaming on consoles, but will spend mighty dollars on less intricate forms of play.

It’s wait and see time now, but you must admit, this is truly exciting stuff! Pricing starts at $499

    that’s some big ass iphone!

I saw the video from the ikea guy using it and it is simply a bigger iphone, looks pretty snazzy, I wouldn’t mind having it though, wouldn’t mind at all.

The iPhone on steriods meets the chubby iPhone and they make sweet love and produce this lovely offspring. Bigger, badder, faster than the iPhone and surfing the web and playing iPhone games looks really cool plus it doubles as an ebook and McGraw Hill publishers(College/School Book Company) is putting alot of their books on it which is going to help out alot of college students who can’t afford a 120 hard copy book and can buy the cheaper ebook. Wish I had the cash flow to buy the iPad can’t wait to see some of my friends when they get it to test it out.

It seems as if you guys think the iPad will flop….

Hmmm is that supposed to rival a “netbook”? I’m not a fan. As far as gaming I don’t think I would “spend mighty dollars on less intricate forms of play”… especially at 500 bucks. I have an Itouch but recently got a Droid and the screen is so much better and I can’t even go back and look at the Itouch without noticing a huge difference. Rather stick with a laptop and eventually go buy a ps3.
