[poll id="2"]On Monday morning Microsoft came out swinging at its press conference by opening up with Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain, a title we know is multiplatform and a franchise recognized better on PlayStation. Microsoft knew what it needed to accomplished and tried its best to convey that games was its first priority! Ryse was shown – an answer of sorts to God of War. Killer Instinct, although now we’ve learnt that the fighter is a light, downloadable game and the only character we get for free is Jago. Money talks thereafter. But overall Microsoft’s press conference did what it needed to.
They showed Titanfall, the always-online title from former Infinity Ward people Respawn Entertainment, a tittle available initially only on Xbox One. So Microsoft had good show. Not great but good.
They never mentioned DRM. That was bad.
Here comes Sony later that day with its own presser, starting rather slowly, leaving me a bit nervous, afraid that the electronics giant might go the same route as Xbox One on DRM, plus I thought the show was lacking a bit. Where was Naughty Dog and Santa Monica? Yet as fate would have it, Sony needed none of its veritable studios to win the show, because after showing some PS4 exclusives like The Order: 1886 and The Dark Sorcerer, Jack Tretton laid the smack down.
PS4 won’t block used games, it won’t require internet connection to play games. PlayStation 4′s policies are the same as PS3′s when it comes to game sharing, etc.
BOOM! The crowed erupted. It was like nothing we’ve ever seen at an E3 press conference, let alone Sony’s. But that wasn’t the final blow to Microsoft, the price was.
PS4 will cost $399 at launch – the crowed was stunned, pleasantly so, erupting into more shouts of “Sony! Sony! Sony!”, and before you knew it, like a gladiator fight, Microsoft was knocked out with Sony looking down at it.
Something kinda like this:
So back to the question, will you be buying PS4 this holiday season, or is it Xbox One? Maybe both? Share your thoughts, folks!
