For Capcom, Cutting LP2 Content To Fit On 360 Was A Difficult Decision

by Ernice Gilbert on February 18th, 2010, under Capcom, Playstation 3, Xbox 360

Lost Planet 2 is shaping up to be a really great game, but with that being said, it probably could have been greater. Why? Well because a good amount of content had to be eliminated in other for it to fit on the Xbox 360, this according to the game’s producer Jun Takeuchi.

“There wasn’t especially any big trouble. More than those kind of difficulties, the edited content was way too much and dealing with that was more difficult than anything,” he said in an interview with Livedoor.

“This time, truly, the content that was cut was significant.”

But don’t worry too hard folks, that lost content could come back as DLC.

“I think we could be able to add that content at a later date as downloadable content.”

The game will be out worldwide on May 18th for PS3 and Xbox 360.

Sad to hear. I’m slowly (think like a snail sippin’ lean) making my way through Lost Planet right now, along with a several other games, and I’m very excited about LP2. Any ideas why not to include more on the blu-ray?

That was good question. Either they are developing game on 360 and porting to Ps3, or they don’t want to differentiate the games. Personally i think sony should get on top of this to make that content time exclusive.

Well, seeing that the game is multiplatform, I’m assuming they want to keep the amount of content on each console equal…

Especially since the franchise was once an Xbox 360 exclusive.

Thanks, and good point about the possibility it is being ported to PS3, I forgot about that. I was also thinking the same about not wanting a significant difference in the two games, especially if it changes key parts in the story, but I think they should consider some options.

They should. Either ways, I’m actually pumped about this one, although I never had a chance to play the first.

      What’s it like?

I think its crap, 360 just can’t hold the amount of imformation like Sonys blu-ray can. Then you like to think back about those great days when the GTA series was only on Playstation. Amagine how big of a story or city you could play in if the gta series was still only on playstation and they sat down and used that blu-ray. Having to cut stuff out of a game just cause theirs not enought room….Come on, please 360, dont hold PS3 back just cuz you cant fit everthing on to one disk. Just look at FF13, three disks on 360 and one for Playstation. Sorry, but for me blu-ray and PS3 are just the way to be!! Nothing else comes close.
