Sony is apparently moments away from signing a long-term contract with Ubisoft that would see the Assassin’s Creed franchise turn into a Hollywood blockbuster. The good news here is it’d be something you’ll actually want to watch.

We all know how game-based movies turn out: rubbish. But Ubisoft recently formed a department to make sure it keeps creative control of any Assassin’s Creed movie in an effort to keep quality high. The move is working, as Variety reports that a bidding war between Sony, Universal and other major film studios had been waging for a while. Sony, it seems, won at the final hour.

DICE has flung onto the internet a Battlefield 3 gameplay trailer, sending shivers all over gaming’s web. It’s hot.

Battlefield 3 sees a release next Tuesday in the U.S., and next Friday in Europe for PC, PS3 and 360.

Come November 1st, millions of gamers will jump into Uncharted 3′s multiplayer ready to wage war. Sony knows this, and in an effort to help gamers, the giant’s released a tips movie. Catch it below.

Last Wednesday was a big night for a lot of gamers. Crimson Azoth, Afro Dan and scoit had their first game in the championship knowing that if they don’t get first or second place then they may never enter again. Tiki Myr re-entered the championship for the first time since he was taken down after his 4 game winning streak, pressure was high for him to preform. The pressure was surely highest however on our champion Johnny who was playing with an opportunity to win Microsoft points and a chance to play in our final championship match. Lets who cracked under pressure and who thrived on it.

Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet comes out Wednesday but we have a sneak peak at the first 15 minutes of the game. We will have a full video review up tomorrow but for now wet your whistle with the epic opening of this arcade classic.

Ubisoft’s announced a new animated movie titled Assassin’s Creed: Embers, which will expand on the final chapter of the life of Ezio, covering a journey which has spanned more than four decades. The short film will release alongside the game come November 15th.

There are many web TV series to watch on the internet, but honestly none’s really captivated me like this one has. It would seem as if Warner Bros. are doing all they can to bring back the Mortal Kombat glory days in earnest, and they’re off to a rather good start.

The movie’s about 10 minutes in length, and features Jax (Michael Jai White), Striker (Tamoh Pennikett), Sonya Blade (Jeri Ryan), and Kano (Darren Shahlavi).

Uncharted movie producer, David O. Russell, has said that he’ll push the boundaries with the amount of skin he’ll show in the film, adding it’ll will feature a “dope crime family in the world of antiquities and art.”

“I decided to make Uncharted a really dope crime family in the world of antiquities and art, and I think we can do something very exciting,” he told the MTV Movies Blog at the Oscars.

According to Russell, veteran Hollywood stars Robert De Niro and Joe Pesci will “hopefully” be involved, but wasn’t shy about promoting the cast of women that, according to him, will play a vital role in the film.

“There’s going to be romance and sex, I promise,” he said. “Otherwise I’m not interested.

“I don’t know if they’ll let me make an R-Rated videogame movie. It’ll have to be PG-13. I’ll show as much skin and as much language as I can at that age, and I hope they push the limit. I heard they’re going to push it a little bit.”

Wahlberg, also collared by MTV, then added: “I think he was talking about Eva Mendes and maybe Scarlett Johansson. But, you know, whoever he wants.”

So you’ve played Heavy Rain and enjoyed it fully. But you just couldn’t get around to playing it again because you lacked the drive. Yet, like a child wanting mammy to tell a bed time story, you dream of the day Sony would turn the full thing into a movie.

Your dream, my friend, has just come to pass.

The 12-hr game’s been brought together beautifully in this unofficial movie, so for those who don’t mind spoilers, and have three hours to waste, pop the corn, get the root beer, and waste your life away.

Ever since David O. Russell got the Uncharted movie gig and started talking about it, fans immediately became concerned. But it was not until he said that families in the move would have a “sopranos” feel to them did fans, including me, fainted.

He’s heard about those concerns, thankfully, and he’s released comments trying hard to convince the inconvincible that his take on Nathan Drake’s adventures will be awesome. He said he’s played [Uncharted 2] “many times”, and has met Naughty Dog’s Amy Hennig.

“As far as I’m concerned, I’m very respectful as far as the core content and spirit of the game,” the director told Slashfilm.

“There’s not a bunch of movies you can point to that are made from games that are amazing movies, that stand up to time as a franchise or as [individual films].” By focusing on “what I think is going to be an amazing movie.’

He added: “It’s going to be real, it’s going to be raw, it’s going to be intense, it’s going to be original, and it’s going to be propulsive.”

We sure hope so, Russell, we sure hope so.
