it actually turned out allot better than what i was expecting!
i was REALLY worried it would have a boring basic combat system, but it doesent.
what actually shows in this is that crapcom really have been sitting down with NT showing them the ropes, this is how a DMC game should feel.
but they forgot to tell them how it should CONTROL!
god, the game is SO convoluted its freaking infuriating!
nothings simple, the simplest tasks require you to do such awkward and annoying things.
dragging enemies towards you for instance is R2 square, in DMC4 it was just circle.
and your constantly pausing in your mind, having a brain wire cross, which one is bring towards again is it R2 or L2, oops i spent too much time figuring that out and im dead now.
its one of those games the controls and combos are so awkward to pull off it just gets REALLY frustrating!
why do you have to hold circle to launch a enemy and launch yourself, why couldent it just be press circle?
everything just has to be that bit more difficult and hard to remember.
combos are exactly the same thing, since theres no heavy and light attacks your constantly forced to remember how many triangles in fast, how many slow, which one do i hold?
you really do need a second screen or something in live view showing you all the combos.
its a shame, they were that close to making the perfect reboot, improved on something they have always needed to and actually made it pretty good.
but they forgot to make the controls easy to use and easy to remember.
especially in such a fast paced game, you dont have time to spend 3 seconds remembering which trigger button is pull and which is lunge.
even the series iconic splitter attack is really awkward to pull off.
another thing they need to improve is the upgrades system.
its really disappointing, im sitting on 14 upgrade points ATM and havent bought anything in quite a while because you just feel like everythings a waste of them.
99% of the moves are so similar to eachother, and theres not many moves unlocked early on most of the upgrades are just level upgrades which make it more powerful, ie a waste of upgrade points.
its like saying to someone here you go heres a million pounds and locking them in the corner 2 dollar shop!
funny how the thing people were so worried spoiling the game, has, but in such a different way than what we were expecting.

IF you do have a photographic memory and remember every single combo in the game, than its actually quite brilliant!
watching some gameplay footage of it, watching people juggle enemies and stick to SSS ratings the whole mission through.
its nice to see the combat depth is still at the fore front of the series, but its so hard to access it might as well not be there at all!

its not hard to remember the controls. i’ve played the demo and its the easiest shit ever. a casual could pick and play its really that easy. i don’t know nick maybe your not used to hack n slash games i guess, but my experience with it was easy. thats all this game is “easy”. theres nothing challenging about it, the combos are straight trash, the weapons are so cliche. “oh press L2 for a light fast weapon and R2 for your heavy slow weapon.” plus the guns literally are worthless they do absolutely no damage at all. theres no styles which is by far the stupidest thing ever like how the hell do you not include something that made the series stand apart from hack n slash games. and i swear that in this game its not even worth trying to get a high rank when battling enemies i’ve got a triple SSS ranking on son of sparda mode which supposed to be the hardest mode and really its just as easy as the other modes. the only difference is the amount of enemies on each level and that specific enemies glow a certain color that coincides with your angel and demon weapons. an to top that off the stupid unreal engine was by far the worst thing they used for this game. i swear the combat is so slow its like walking in molasses “feel like 60 FPS while fighting” yea right garbage theory. i just want this game flop and this series to die already im so sick of seeing this DmC bull**it.

Fans are not liking this, Nick. That’s all I’ll say. It’s caused for some pretty brutal exchanges on the internet.

you know i got really inspired from all these adopters of this new DmC who call people like me haters because i actually bring up points as to why this game is not truly worthy of being called a DMC game. i want to pose a question to anyone on this site who has bought the game and said it is was good or better than previous DMC games.

What has this game upgraded from the previous entry? Please enlighten me. even reviewers can answer this question also, because im not seeing how this game is getting good reviews scores but what these reviewers say doesn’t reflect whats in the actual game itself.

    what did you expect?
this was never going to go down well, people just dont like change!
look what happened when konami announced MGS rising, the shit hit the fan even though the same developers who did MGS4 were doing it.
than PD took over, and the shit hit the fan even more!
look what happened when FC was sold to ubisoft, even though 2 was a fantastic game fans were still spewing bile at ubisoft!
MP3 was one of THE best games of the generation, but people are still hurling vile at R* for changing it, and at remedy for selling the license to them!
i could go on, and on, and on…….
this could be THE best game EVER made, and fans would STILL bitch about it!

not saying its a great game, nor a true DMC game, just saying its NO WHERE NEAR as bad as people are putting on!

  8. Ghost250 January 16, 2013 at 11:31 am -

and you see that one of the main problems right there you call it bitching, its not bitching its called being criticized. when you criticize you point the flaws on something. so when fans of series notice that a series is turning into something its not thats when the fans get all riled up. the same way you yourself criticize resident evil is the same way i criticize DMC. because they’ve turned the series into something its not. An another thing you say its not as bad as people as people are making it out to be, i call bullcrap on that because, if the game was called something i would actually tried it out but since it had DMC slapped on the F**KING box i judge based on previous games on how they improved the formula. and from what im seeing they didn’t improve shit, this game equals nothing but regression. its garbage, crap, Sh**, dribble, any possible bad thing i can think of is what exactly what this game is.
