Two days ago Square-Enix showed off Luminous: the publishers internal next generation engine. It looked freaking awesome. Today however, the leading engine in the games industry saw its latest iteration revealed: Epic Games Unreal Engine 4. Which one looks better? Square Enix’s new engine looks more awesome in my opinion. Even though they are both great.

its like asking what is lighter, a ton of feathers or a ton of bricks?
there two totally different engines, $E focused on texture detail and particle effects which is why it does those allot better than UE4.
where UE4 focuses allot more of its efforts on real time lighting effects which is why in that department it performs far better than $Es engine.
so it really depends what you prefer, flashy particles or more realistic lighting effects.
