Think PS3 and Xbox 360 boasts much prowess? That’s child’s play compared to what the PS4 and Xbox 2 will harbor. They won’t be one or two times more powerful – id Software boss John Carmack contends the new consoles will be 10x mightier than the current machines.
Yesterday Develop scored one of the biggest leaks this generation, when one of the site’s sources shared details of Microsoft new console with it, revealing that the new Xbox was already on location at one of EA’s studios. Microsoft and EA both declined to comment on the rumor, giving the talk even more credence. But when I woke up this morning going through my normal routine, I checked the email account associated with the site, and what I saw startled me.

The next Xbox will be out sooner rather than later, it seems, as a “senior, trusted, well-placed,” source has told Develop that the new hardware’s already on location at one of EA’s studios, and developers are already testing it out.
The next batch of consoles is just around the corner, believes Crytek boss Cevat Yerli, and speaking in an interview recently, he told the story of how they’ve been preparing for the moment with CryEngine 3.

Earlier today, DICE released a gameplay trailer of its latest game, Battlefield 3, one that left the gaming masses without speech. It is the best looking game we’ve seen, and surely the most impressive shooter. DICE said Frosbite 2, its latest engine, brings the eighth generation of gaming right here, right now. And now Epic Games has released some new images that’s impressing us all on the same level.
Here’s my question: with such powerful engines being unveiled that are way beyond their time, is it time for the next round of consoles? Or better yet, are you willing to jump in?
