With the incredible processing power of todays gaming systems, games more than ever have the potential of delivering some beautiful HD visuals. While facial animation, detailed character models and advanced physics simulators are all feeling the benefit of modern technology, nothing makes you stop and stare like an epic sweeping vista.
Naughty Dog must be happy with this news, and who wouldn’t be? It’s the equivalent of receiving an Oscar, or a Grammy — even being elected President.
I know, I’m overplaying this, yet it’s great news: UK gamers recently voted for the best PlayStation games of all time and the results were published in the 50th issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine. Find them past the break.
This should stir some discussions.
Finally, Sony and Naughty Dog’s announced the much expected GoTY edition of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
Uncharted 2 landed in store shelves last year October 13th in the U.S. and 16th in U.K., and has since then gone on to sell close to 4 million copies worldwide. Over 125 million online multiplayer matches have been played, 39 perfect reviews, and over 50 Game Of The Year awards have been won.
In life, there are needs and wants. It’s simple: some things you can live without and some things you just can’t go through life without them. What would you do if you had no water in your home for weeks, and there was no place to access any? You’d most likely become sick and die, eventually. Or what if there was no electricity for months, what would you do? In the past, people lived without power for all there lives, and some, in remote parts of the world, still do. But we in the West would lose our minds over such a situation.
The two scenarios I just described would normally fall under the category of needs.
Will Uncharted 2 praise ever stop? Apparently not.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves came out exactly eight months ago, and since then, it has become the PS3′s fastest selling exclusive title. Rightfully so too; the game has received critical praise from entire gaming industry.
From great story-telling to topnotch narration, Naughty Dog got everything right with that game. So much so that EA sees the title as a “beacon of hope” for the industry.
Is there a game better than Uncharted 2: Among Thieves? Many will argue yes and others will lash out with a resounding no. It is however, one of the better titles ever created, and that’s something we who’ve played the game can agree to.
There’s no way such an awesome game could have escape from Hollywood’s claws, especially with its captivation narrative and a wealth of stories that could derive from it.
So Hollywood has gotten its hands on the Uncharted franchise, but since the second game was released, film producer Ari Arad, the man responsible for making the Uncharted flick, has been feeling the “pressure”.
The good thing about Sony first party developers is how often they communicate and the great relationship ejnoyed amongst them. No where else is it more evident than between Guerrilla Games, Naughty Dog and Santa Monica.
They speak together often, and Guerilla Games head Hermen Hulst said he needs Killzone 3 to surpass the benchmarks set by prior PS3 games like Uncharted 2 and God of War III.
When something is great, say it’s great. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is indeed great. Sometimes the best in entertainment, whether it be music, movies, or gaming, are never experienced by the masses. They slip in and out and the ones who had the privilege to enjoy the genius deem themselves as blessed.

Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune received good reviews, it was, according to those who played it, one of the shining stars in the early dark days of the PS3. If you owned a PS3 they said, you should own Drake’s Fortune because according to them, the overall package was astounding.
I can remember the day clearly like it was only yesterday, I jumped in my car, drove to the nearest Blockbuster and rented the critically acclaimed game. To my surprise Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune was the best action/adventure title I’d ever played, and played again five times over, it was that good.
