Original Story: The PlayStation 4 has officially launched in the U.S., and gamers across the states are now playing a varied amount of games. From Killzone: Shadow Fall to Resogun, and from Call of Duty: Ghosts to Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. Some are definitely playing Battlefield 4, too.

Next-gen is finally here, and I’d like to know your impressions of the console. What is it like?

With Remote Play And Price Cut, Are You Now Sold On Vita?

Yesterday Sony announced a PS Vita price cut, and demonstrated how the portable console’s remote play function works. See below for the Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag video demo. Sony also announced a slew of games, both indie and from bigger studios, that will be released Vita this year and next. The console looks more attractive than it’s even been, and I couldn’t help but wonder if the announcements convinced you of buying one. Ubisoft Says Core Gamers Are “Starved” For Next Gen, Is That True?

The wait for the next generation of consoles, aka PS4 and the next Xbox, is just too much for core gamers to bare, Ubisoft believes, because they’re tired of the same ole of current gen, regurgitated offerings. My question is, is Ubisoft right?

Ubisoft believes people everywhere want to express themselves in increasingly unique ways, and games should be an avenue by which said expressions are relayed. Current gen consoles don’t have the prowess for such expansion, and it’s one of the reasons why the new systems need to be released sooner rather than later.

Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot said all this in a prepared statement today, courtesy Gamespot:

We live in a world of self-expression. Everywhere, everyone is creative and wants to add value. Customization, or curating, is a huge growth area across all services and that holds true for games. People want to play in their own way, they want to define their own experience and they want to share the way they’re playing.

Which Game Was The Most Memorable For You This Generation?

You’ve played dozens of games this generation, some of you, hundreds. But there’s this ONE game that’s dominated your life during the season of Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii. A game you keep coming back to years after its release and simply can’t get enough of.

You talk about it on forums, you use its image as your avatar. You even use some of the quotes found therein, and yes, you dreamed about it once.

Heck, although you already own the game, you stopped by favorite retailer to purchase the game of the year edition and haven’t opened it yet. A trophy of sorts. The game almost cause you to lose your girlfriend, and actually stirred some trouble at home with your wife.

Tell me, which game was the most memorable for you this generation?

Weekend Quencher 05/04/13 – Console Wars And The Death Of Nintendo? Edition

No, Nintendo won’t simply die, but as a console maker do you really think the company stands a chance against Sony and Microsoft? I don’t know, and the failure of Wii U to take off isn’t helping either. However with or without Nintendo, the console wars continue, a fact that was magnified recently when rumor broke claiming that Microsoft was six months behind Sony in preparing software for the next Xbox, and as a result, the gargantuan company was out fishing for exclusives from third-party partners – something that will definitely keep certain games away from PS4. Remember Microsoft’s pockets are deeper than Sony’s. Where Redmond will spend $1 billion and don’t flinch, Sony simply can’t.

Yet what Microsoft is doing isn’t new – and to be quite honest Sony employed the very same strategy overwhelmingly in PS2 days, and have done so to a certain extent with PS3 – and we’re hearing it’s set to continue.

Yes, Gamesthirst, the console wars are here to stay, and I’m sure some of your have already aligned yourselves with your system of choice. I fully expect the debates to get even hotter once Microsoft unveils the next Xbox on May 21st, which should make for a very interesting E3 2013 and an extremely exciting fall 2013, when the consoles are expected to launch.

I took the liberty to create a poll on our Facebook page, asking people over there what would they like to see implemented in Games Thirst — be it weekly shows, dedicated articles, or whatever else. Bringing that poll over here I am, asking our dedicated Games Thirst audience this: what would improve your Games Thirst experience? I’m posting some suggestions below (same as poll), and if they don’t suit you, feel free to post yours in the comments below!

Thirsty Conversations: How Do You Feel About Micro-transactions?

Publishers, most notably EA, are now experimenting with a new model in gaming called micro-transactions. Basically the new model demands payments in order to get, say, a certain type of ammunition, gun, and other perks that would be normally available in a regular game. Dead Space 3 experimented with it, and that did not turn out good. It’s a nickle and dime the gamer system, and people haven’t taken too well to it.

I need to know how you feel about the thing.

Thirsty Conversations: Have Your Gaming Habits Changed?

When I was younger, I gamed a lot. Now that I am a man, I game, but not as often as I used to. Is it the same with you guys? Do you find yourself gaming less because life has happened? I know that’s been the case with me. I remember when I’d spend 8hrs straight playing, say, an RPG or an action-adventure title. But now it’s more Call of Duty, Battlefield 3 – or any other title that’d give me a quick fix because of the lack of time.

Now mind you, I still play games that have enthralling stories (Uncharted, Assassin’s Creed, Dishonored and others come to mind), and also those that challenge you quite a bit, and I have to play a variety of titles because of Games Thirst, for reviews. But honestly, man, honestly, I don’t think I’d have the time for another Final Fantasy game (unless it’s Versus 13), because there’s just too much investment of time demanded. And I, for one, don’t have it.

Anyone else feels my pain?
