Was about to get in some Killzone 3 action about two hours ago and to my surprise, I received an error: “you’ve been signed out of the PlayStation Network”. I then proceeded to check the internet for some information, and my worst fears became real, the network was down again. The downtime, however, didn’t last too long, as I’m once more signing into the service. Sort this, Sony.

by Ernice Gilbert on May 17th, 2011, under Hot, News, PS3, Sony

77 million. That’s the number of registered accounts on PSN. But even before the network was hacked forcing Sony to take it down for the better part of a month, there were many users who simply never logged in because they never felt the need to. Believe it or not, millions of PS3 owners refuse to play games online for whatever reason, but all that is changing and working in Sony’s favor, as the company unveiled its “welcome back” package.

Sony promised it would provide PSN users with a “welcome back” package for the long downtime the network suffered, keeping gamers offline for the better part of a month, and also for all the sensitive information that was exposed. One of PS3′s biggest games with a robust online multiplayer is Killzone 3, and there’s no doubt in my mind the game was severely missed during the PSN downtime. But if for some reason you harbor doubt, look for yourself at the game’s multiplayer now, and you’ll be amazed.

PSN Back Online In The Caribbean (Update)

by Ernice Gilbert on May 15th, 2011, under Hot, News, PS3, PSN, Sony

Update 1: Sony’s just said that it turned off PSN for 30 minutes because of server overload:

“We’re currently experiencing an extremely heavy load of password resets, and so we recently had to turn off services for approximately 30 minutes to clear the queue,” wrote Patrick Seybold on the US PS Blog.

“As such, a large number of people are attempting to change their passwords at the same time, it’s taking longer than expected for all those emails to clear all of the ISPs.

If you’ve requested your password reset, please give it a bit of time to reach your email. Thanks for your patience as we work to get everyone back online.”

I know a lot of you are sending in reports from all over the Caribbean concerning this, so now you know what’s really going on. Sit tight.

Original Story: PSN has been gradually coming along, with portions of the U.S. and Europe being turned on as Sony promised a phased return, with full service coming at the end of May worldwide. Some people who haven’t received service would love to know the status for their location, and while in the U.S. things have been happening gradually, and the same in Europe, we can now report that the entire Caribbean is also coming back on.
