What do you do when the gaming season gets slow? You go back to playing some of your favorite titles until another blockbuster comes along. Think games like Uncharted 2 on PS3, and Gears of War, Halo: Reach on Xbox 360. July is one of those months where there’s nothing really “amazing” to play….Oh but wait! have you tried Limbo? If not, you’ll want to put down the aforementioned games and give it a look.
The Xbox Live Arcade is home to a great selection platformers that may not have seen a release anywhere else. While Little Big Planet fights to keep side scrolling platformers relevant to a modern audience, few other platformers are getting full releases on current consoles. This does not mean we are getting less, just from different places. We can all hope that “Sonic: Generations” might spark new interest into this fading genre, but for now lets looks at the best thats on offer for download on the Xbox Live Arcade.
Playdead CEO Dino Patti has just confirmed via a tweet from the US PlayStation account, that Limbo is indeed coming to PSN following yesterday’s leak.
Limbo was the much loved indie game developed by Playdead, and was released exclusively for Xbox Live last year. But according to the Korean Ratings Board, the game will also make its debut on PS3.
The God of War ripoff Dante’s Inferno is the latest hack-n-slash title to compete with God of War, and although is a decent effort indeed, it failed to even come close to what the PS3 exclusive offers. But will there be a sequel? Visceral Games says no.
Not now, at least.
Limbo’s one of the Xbox 360′s most downloaded Xbox Live games, receiving critical praise from across the board. It’s been exclusive to Microsoft’s console from day one, and once more, at the Indiecade festival in Culver City, California, Playdead, Limbo’s developer reiterated that the title is, and always will be an Xbox 360 exclusive.
As for the future, however, CEO Dino Patti confirmed to Joystiq the studio’s indeed working on a “new IP”, one that will most likely be released on other platforms. It’s also a game, according to him, Limbo fans will enjoy.
