Thirsty Conversations: “Welcome Back Pack” Edition

Come Tuesday, if all goes well, the PlayStation Store will reopen for business after being down for a full month. That’s all kinds of awesome in many ways. First, we get to play all the great demos, purchase DLC and get some other goodies that’s been sitting idle since the PSN hack, but most importantly, we’ll get to redeem our “welcome back pack” Sony promised.

For PS3:

Dirt 3 Reviews Go Live, It’s An Insta-Buy

Who doesn’t love a “dirty” racing game where all the driving is done with massive doses of adrenaline? Racing through terrains, slamming competitors into walls all while listening to music that fuels the inner rage.. Codemasters set out to helm that kind of experience, and according to the reviews going live now, they’ve succeeded.

Eurogamer concluded:

“And for the main event, Codemasters has succeeded in curating another superlative festival of driving. It’s a package more inclusive than any of its predecessors, shot through with the quiet innovations that have defined the studio’s more recent efforts. With its off-road events celebrating the series’ past and Gymkhana presenting a potentially bright new future, it’s another great racing game from an outfit that’s proving itself to be a master of its craft.”

Recently, I wrote an article entitled “The Reasons Why PS3 Will End Up In Last Place This Console Generation“, and although I never talked down Sony, or its PS3 in any way shape or form, the first comment was from some random guy who instantly labeled me a fanboy. I wonder if that guy ever even read the thread, or did he just read the title? Either ways, I found it disrespectful to call someone a fanboy just because they have an opinion.

Eventually, I let it slide because I’ve come to realize that doesn’t matter what I write, as long as it either praises one console, or point out some faults with it, I’ll be labeled a fanboy; because for them, all articles are flame bait.

Why’s Everyone So Upset With Greenberg?

‘Sticks and stones can break my bones but words can do me no harm’, is an old adage that’s often used to say that no matter what someone might think or say, as long as said person doesn’t hit me, I’ll be alright. Nothing could be further from the truth. In fact I’d go as far as to say that words sometimes do more harm than being physically beaten.

But sometimes, certain words or statements are uttered by some important people and the reaction to said statements are totally uncalled for.

Yesterday’s utterance from Xbox 360 front man, Aaron Greenberg was of those times.

Xbox World 360 Issues Apology Over Bleszinski Quote

Cliff Bleszinski is not a guy to keep quite about what he thinks. If it’s a dog then he’ll call or cat, um dog. The man is outspoken.

He has said that the children in Heavy Rain are the most hideous, ever. He also said that he really wanted to hate Bioshock 2. But recently, according to a piece on CVG, Bleszinski said “technically, Japan can’t keep up with the US.”

SCEA Boss: Microsoft’s Focus On Exclusive DLC Is “Hysterical”

Microsoft has been focusing heavily on getting exclusive DLC on its platform, however most of them a usually timed-DLC, meaning they eventually end up on the PS3. Think the GTA IV packs and also the Modern Warfare 2 packs.

Sony Computer Entertainment North American boss, Rob Dyer, thinks that’s just “hysterical”.
