It was Sony’s turn last week, and now Xbox One is being released in the U.S. and Europe on Friday, hence the hardware reviews below.  Apparently the console is trying to do a lot of things and when it actually works, it’s quite impressive. But critics are saying that Kinect 2.0 isn’t ready, as it misses the mark big time in terms of catching your voice commands.

PlayStation 4 may well be based on PC hardware, then, but based on these first impressions, it feels like much more of a console – a pure gaming thoroughbred – than its predecessor.

Fears that console gaming would buck and bend to the whims of the fickle casual market have proven false – this system is absolutely built for core gamers. And yet, for those expecting to see something that definitively turns a corner, you won’t find it here just yet.
