Many well-meaning Battlefield fans were put off by BF4 because the game was so broken for such a long time. Battlefield: Hardline, being developed by Visceral Games, was set for an October release but was later delayed with the developer citing more time for polish.

They’ve been polishing ever since, and have released two videos: single-player gameplay and multiplayer action. Let me know if your mind has been changed.

Battlefield: Hardline Delayed Into 2015, EA Explains Why

Battlefield: Hardline has been delayed into early 2015, EA has announced, marking the first time the publisher has delayed a high-profile shooter title scheduled to be released during the holiday season, and it’s a decision developer Visceral Games reckons was needed if Battlefield: Hardline were to really standout as a true Battlefield experience.

Visceral Games identified three main reasons for the delay from feedback gamers gave through the game’s beta:

1. Multiplayer Innovation: Coming out of our E3 beta, internal focus tests, and work with our community, we have received a lot of great Multiplayer thinking. We’re going to be adding some new feature ideas direct from the community that will evolve the cops and criminals fantasy into a truly unique Battlefield Multiplayer experience.

2. Single Player Story Depth: In order to ensure our Single Player experience delivers on player expectations, we’re spending more time polishing our core features, as well as adding a few new ones that will support a deeper “crime revenge” story experience.

3. Stability: This has been a focus for our team since day one and we’re going to be using the extra time to continue to optimize the game for a stable launch. We have learned a lot from Battlefield 4, are continuing to learn from our Community Test Environment and will learn more from another Hardline beta. More time allows us to surface issues that the team can attempt to fix prior to launch.

Battlefield Hardline E3 Trailer Leaks, EA Announces October 21st Release Date

This game has been living in a house full of leaks, it seems, Battlefield Hardline, forcing EA to simply go ahead and make all the details known ahead of the shooter’s official unveiling at Sony’s press conference. Check out the trailer and some screenshots below the break.

Battlefield: Hardline gameplay was leaked online recently, forcing EA to come out and confirm the title, and now fresh gameplay from a beta that’s apparently in the works has made its way to the leaky internet, showing bike-riding, etc.

There’s no other player but the one player himself, as the beta is new as gamers are only now being invited, but this early beta tester couldn’t resist the urge to share the details with us.

After Leak, EA Officially Announces Battlefield: Hardline

With a leaked trailer to boot, EA’s new Battlefield game escapes the tight grips of developer DICE to find new friends at Visceral Games, where the new title is being forged, confirming the franchise’s status as a yearly release effort moving forward.

Hardline is set against the backdrop of the war on crime and the battle between cops and criminals.

“Several years ago, I was at an internal EA meeting in Barcelona with creative leaders from across the company. It was there I met Karl Magnus Troedsson, the GM of DICE, for the first time, and we immediately began talking about games – I’ve always loved Battlefield and KM was a huge fan of Dead Space, which I was working on at the time,” explained vice president and general manager, Visceral Games, Steve Papoutsis. “We started talking about different ways we could work together, different ways we could take Battlefield and action games in a new direction. It was then that this project that became Battlefield Hardline was born.”

Papoutsis added: “There’s been a lot of buzz today about Battlefield Hardline – we’re getting ready for E3 and fans found some details on our website about what we’re working on for the show. We’ve been reading all of your comments and we’re excited to be going into more detail soon on the ways we’re adding new twists and turns to the foundation of Battlefield multiplayer and more about how we’re bringing our strengths at Visceral to single player.”

The game’s official premier will take place at EA’s E3 2014 press conference at Noon PDT, on June 9th. We’ll keep you posted, of course.
