This isnt a knock against anyone on GT,but I think it needs to be said. Everyone(Developers and Gamers alike) has been talking about how this is a terrible thing and they feel bad they feel about what happened to 38 Studios and Big Huge games. Yet very few people lined up to support a new IP. I like RPGs and I'm willing to put my $$$ up to support new people in the industry. Now I understand that $60 is a lot of $$$ to put up for a new game, but the demo was out and it was a good barometer of what Amalur had to offer. Reviews were moderately decent, but it got ripped for not being Skyrim, but also ripped for not being revolutionary....I dont get it. Skyrim was Oblivion with a pretty paint job and about 4 new things. It was buggy as hell and a broken product, yet it sold like hot cakes. I just feel like people dont want to support upstarts in the industry. Big Huge Games worked their asses off and they were thanked by being told Amalur isnt Skyrim. It really stinks that all this happened to these companies. It would have loved to see what they could have done with Amalur 2, but I guess we will never know. I advise everyone who loves RPGs to pick up a copy of Amalur and give it a try. Off the soapbox now.
