In recent times it seems like The Last of Us is all we hear about from Naughty Dog, but the IP that turned the venerable developer into a legend is the Uncharted franchise, and the forth installment will be released sometime next year. Thing is, Amy Hennig, the game’s story writer is gone, and so too are some top names behind the action-adventure title. But according to Naughty Dog there’s nothing to worry about, as The Last of Us’ creative director Neil Druckmann and game director Bruce Straley are leading development on Uncharted PS4 in place of former heads Amy Hennig and Justin Richmond.
“We’ve asked [Druckmann and Straley] to lead the project,” co-president Evan Wells told Game Informer when quizzed over the pair’s involvement in the upcoming game. “They are excited as veterans of the Uncharted franchise to take the responsibility and they’re doing great.”
Druckmann and Straley both previously worked on the Uncharted series prior to working on The Last of Us, with Druckmann having served as co-writer and co-lead game designer on Uncharted 2: Among Thieves.
Besides Uncharted PS4, Wells says that Naughty Dog has at least three other “pretty significant things going on right now”, including DLC for The Last of Us, The Last of Us Remastered and an unannounced project.
A new Uncharted 4 trailer that’s supposed to wow the E3 2014 crowed will be shown at Sony’s press conference. We’ll be covering the full thing.
