A new report is claiming that EA has secured the publishing rights for Titanfall 2 from Respawn Entertainment, and that the new game will be released on PS4 alongside other platforms.
That’s according to a Gamespot source, who also said that EA’s option to publish Titanfall 2 was based on the sales performance of the recently launched first game, and whilst no official sales data has been released the upturn in Xbox One console sales suggests the mech shooter has been a success.
EA, however, chose not to confirm the rumours. “We do not comment on rumour or speculation,” a representative told the site. “Right now all our focus is on supporting all the fans worldwide enjoying Titanfall.”
Furthermore, Polygon has been told by its own sources that the sequel will not be tied to Microsoft systems, opening the door for Titanfall 2 to appear on PS4.
Last year Respawn boss Vince Zampella said they’d be making PS4 games eventually, so it seems as if it’ll start with Titanfall 2.
