Visceral Games Developing ‘Police Themed’ Battlefield Game For Holiday 2014 Release

Visceral Games Developing ‘Police Themed’ Battlefield Game For Holiday 2014 Release

As EA takes the Battlefield franchise into the yearly release cycle, the publisher had to find a worthy developer to produce the title while DICE labors away on Battlefield 4, and prepares its own Battlefield 6 game. Yeah, the Battlefield franchise is about to be milked just like Call of Duty.

This according to a report on Polygon claiming that the project, allegedly code-named Havana, is due for release later this year. Former Criterion team members at Ghost Games UK have also been offered work at Visceral or face redundancies, the report states.

This follows comments made by Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter said that he’d heard that the Battlefield franchise would become a yearly-released title.

Pachter added: “[Wedbush] spoke with [EA] management [in December], and although they have not yet announced a version of Battlefield for FY:15, they confirmed that our understanding is spot on and that if a version of Battlefield were to be released in FY:15, it would be developed by a studio other than DICE.”

Are you in favor of a yearly Battlefield rotation? Let me know in the comments.

Thanks, Videogamer.

This makes me *sigh*, I’m one of those hardcore battlefield players who know’s what makes a good BF game. And with bf4 at its current stage, EA are in no position whatsoever to be announcing the next game in the franchise. Like mentioned in the article, it’s becoming a milked out series that get’s worse everytime, think of it like this: (IMO) Bad company 2 = CoD 4. Battlefield 3 = CoD 5. Battlefield 4 = MW2 and so on, remember how after MW2 came out everything went down hill for the CoD franchise…. God help the battlefield series.
