Amazingly, Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag bested EA’s Battlefield 4 for the number spot on the UK Charts, showing the strength of the AC franchise and leaves us wondering what happened to Battlefield 4.
Yes, you can say most gamers are waiting for next-gen to play Battlefield 4, but these same gamers are waiting for Assassin’s Creed IV on next-gen consoles, too. So it comes as a surprise to me that AC managed to outperform BF4 in the UK.
Now mind you, Assassin’s Creed is a massive franchise — Ubisoft biggest, but while the last AC game sold about 10 million units across platforms, Battlefield 3 did upwards 15 million.
What’s really going on here? Was this a rare situation, and do we expect Battlefield 4 to grab the number one spot in the next round of UK game sales? Because this should be a quite worrying turn of events for EA… Or maybe I’m just reading too deep into this.
