New terms for digital purchases on PSN

New terms for digital purchases on PSN

You need to be logged in with original purchaser’s account to play on other consoles.

Knack is now available for pre-order on the PSN/Sony Entertainment Network Store, but there’s something that attracted our attention. As TheSixthAxis first reported, there’s something different in the terms of purchase.

One-time license fee for play on purchasing account’s designated, primary PS4™ system and other PS4™ systems when signed in with purchasing account.

Basically, this means that people using the same console with different accounts each won’t be able to play the digital game unless they sign in with the account of the one who made the purchase. However, you will be able to play the game on any PS4, as long as you sign in to your account.

This reduces the number of different consoles that can play a game; reduced from five to two in the past, it’s now reduced to one, much like the Xbox 360.

It’s also stated that “One-time license fee for downloads to up to 2 console systems that are associated with the purchasing account.” which means one of two things: it’s either a leftover of the PS3 terms, or it’s possible to have the game on two systems like with the PS3. Confusing? You bet. We look forward to hearing from Sony. Thankfully, I always stick to physical copies, so this won’t affect me.

Man, I can’t wait for the 15th of next month!!!

I understand them not wanting others to get a “free” copy by having the main purchasers second account on their system, but they shouldn’t lock out other profiles for crying out loud. At least allow it on 1 system.

Agreed fully bro. Hopefully they’ll sort this soon after launch, as I”m sure there’ll be outcry.

do you know if anywhere will actually have consoles for sale on release date? as it s appearing (especially in England) less and less likely that this will be the case. Looking like its gonna be pre orders only :-(

  • ernicegilbert

Bro, Sony said it’s reserving consoles for those who’ll go out in stores to find them. http://www.gamesthirst.com/2013/09/12/sony-able-to-sell-every-ps4-it-makes-yields-are-phenomenal/

Just make sure you have November 29th off, and go to a big retail chain early to get yours. Preordering at this point won’t net you a launch unit.
