Call of Duty: Ghosts To Feature Dedicated Servers On All Platforms

Call of Duty: Ghosts To Feature Dedicated Servers On All Platforms

Call of Duty fans, whether PS4 or Xbox One — or even current gen, rejoice! Infinity Ward has confirmed that Call of Duty: Ghosts will feature dedicated servers “on all platforms”, current and next-gen.

This means not only Xbox One, but PS4 will feature dedicated servers for the game, along PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Apparently, even Wii U won’t be left out of the dedicated crowed.

Here’s Infinity Ward’s Mark Rubin, via Twitlonger:

HOSTS ONLINE CONNECTIVITY UPDATE: I wanted to give a quick update on some of the work that has been done to improve everyone’s online experience. We’ve already mentioned dedicated servers as part of the overall plan to improve connectivity. Dedicated servers will be used on current gen, next gen and PC with Ghosts. And, in order to make sure that people have the best possible experience regardless of platform, location or connection, Ghosts will be using a hybrid system of dedicated servers and listen servers. So no matter where you are the game will always be trying to give you the best online performance possible. There is also some great new tech in the matchmaking system that will place players in matches that have the best combined overall connectivity performance. Again these are just some of the things that are going into Call of Duty: Ghosts to give players a great online experience. Can’t wait to see you all online.

When asked if he could clarify whether PS4 was included, Rubin basically made clear that a deal was in place with Microsoft that bars him from mentioning any other platform apart from Xbox One by name, although PS4 is definitely included.

Here’s what he said on the matter:

Leave it to MS to be the douchebag in all this. Trying to deceive people to get more towards their console.

  • ernicegilbert

Great news that all platforms are getting dedicated servers!

  • rpatricky

Yeah. I think it’s awesome they finally give us what we really want! I’m gonna buy for sure…..after Killzone and BF4 though..

  • ernicegilbert

Man can’t wait to get on the Battlefield with you guys! Getting BF4 and KZS at launch?

  • rpatricky

When they launch the ps4. No bF4 for me on PS3.

  • ernicegilbert

Yeah me too. I’m not buying neither of these titles on current gen.

  • foxton

finally, only took them about 6 years to catch up with the rest of the FPS. This is one game i will most definitely not be buying tho!!!

  • ernicegilbert

Foxton, you’re buying BF4 on PS4, right? I hope that’s what all you guys are doing, same with those buying Ghosts, because I don’t see the reason in buying the current-gen versions when next-gen is just around the bend.

On topic: You should probably give it a shot! :)

  • foxton

of course ill be buying it. i havent pre ordered my ps4 so not sure if ill be able to get it on release day tho :( ive booked the 29th – 2nd off work though just in case :) reckon i will buy it on both you can upgrade for only a tenner cant ya so its probably worth it as its gonna be about £10 more on ps4 than ps3 anyway. Plus dont your stats carry over too?!
and there is no way i will be trying COD, i havent bothered with any other so why start now? plus i dont think ill have any money left after a ps4, 2nd pad, bf4, kz SF and FIFA 14!!

  • ernicegilbert

Man, I hope you get one on release day! Some glorious gaming sessions incoming!!!!

And yes, your stats carry over — I might just join you on getting it current-gen and then upgrade. We’ll see!

    I know that’s what I’ll do.
