Report: Capcom Europe to lay tons of people off

Report: Capcom Europe to lay tons of people off

Company restructuring hits European branch.

A report on the print version of MCV (reprinted by Videogamer) suggests that around half the jobs at Capcom Europe will be lost. When GamesIndustry International contacted Capcom, the video game giant would only say that the European branch of the company is undergoing restructuring:

“Following a restructure at its US operation, Capcom’s European organisation is currently evaluating its structure to ensure it is in the best position to take advantage of the changing market conditions the industry is facing.”

It’s known that Capcom will not use external game studios anymore, and cancelled some titles in production because of it. By the end of 2014, they want to hire more than 100 staff for every consumer, online and mobile team they have. This news comes after Lost Planet 3 failed to meet expectation, entering the UK charts at #26.

If it is true, we hope everyone affected will find a new home somewhere else, and that this is just a temporary unlucky situation.
