Microsoft gets into the Chinese market

New deal opens company’s horizons in China.

The 13-year-long ban of games consoles sales is over in China, and Microsoft didn’t think twice before rushing in for a piece of the huge market. It got lifted, though has a single rule: the companies manufacture consoles in Shanghai’s free trade zone.

Thus, as Xinhua reports, Microsoft teamed up with BesTV, a Shanghai media company, and will launch a console with games and streaming services in the country. E-Home Entertainment is the current given name of the joint venture.

Microsoft will choose the CEO, and BesTV will choose the board chairman of the company, with the combined investment of the two companies on this deal reaching $237 million.
