SEGA SAMMY acquires Atlus parent company

SEGA SAMMY acquires Atlus parent company

A fitting deal.

SEGA has been going strong lately, with the acquisition of Company of Heroes, and more. Now, SEGA’s parent company, SEGA SAMMY is looking to acquire Index Corporation, the parent company of developer and publisher Atlus, with the deal to take place in November according to reports from Bloomberg and Nikkei. It is reported $141m will be taken out of SEGA SAMMY’s pockets for this.

In June, Index Corporation filed for civil rehabilitation, the equivalent of bankruptcy protection in the US. Now, as it seems, the company behind Megami Tensei, Catherine, Etrian Odyssey and many more famous titles is acquired by a company that isn’t afraid to take risks. An interesting deal, at the very least.
