Battlefield 4 Next-Gen Console Upgrades Detailed — More Info

Can you remember Battlefield 3′s beta test on consoles two years ago? That didn’t go too well, but with experience and time, things were ironed out pretty nicely. Well Battlefield 4′s beta test is coming to consoles on October 1st, so ready your virtual guns for some pre-launch mayhem.

The game will launch on PS4 on November 15th in the U.S., and will go on sale for Xbox One November 19th, two days before the console is released. In Europe, Battlefield 4 will launch on PS4 on the 29th of November, and on the 22nd of the same month on Xbox One.

The game’s beta will not be available on next-gen consoles, obviously, as said systems aren’t out yet, but if you you a PC, PS3 or Xbox 360, you can join in on the beta starting October 1st, as I’ve already stated above.

As for upgrading to next-gen, if you purchase a hard copy (boxed version) of the game on PS3 or Xbox 360, EA’s offering a digital upgrade to PS4 or Xbox One for only $10.

There’s also an advantage to buying the game on current gen consoles, as EA has promised to port over data to next-gen, meaning you’ll be slightly ahead in upgrades and what not, if that stuff means anything to you.

“We want to make it simple to start playing on current-generation consoles, and then transition to the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 later,” said EA’s COO Peter Moore.

“Playing early on the Xbox 360 or PS3 means you will be able to learn maps, unlock items, and build stats in Battlefield 4; or create your Ultimate Teams and more in FIFA 14 and Madden NFL 25.

“You can then seamlessly carry over a lot of cool content from the current gen game to a new Xbox One or PS4 version to get a jump on the competition.”
