Larry “Major Nelson” Hryb took to Reddit to clarify that Xbox One’s discussion wasn’t rushed, as people on the forums pointed out.
“The Xbox One program has been in development for years, so calling it ‘Rushed’ is incorrect. Did we have a few challenges between May and August? Sure. But we are working on our own schedule – not any one else’s. At Gamescom, every game in the Xbox booth was running on final Xbox One hardware. Every. Single. One. That would paint a very different take on the being ‘rushed.’”
Thanks, CVG!
Our take: The original Xbox One’s development wasn’t rushed, certainly. Howeverm it wouldn’t be an overkill to say Microsoft has been playing catch-up with Sony ever since the Japanese company gained the upper ground. The Xbox One initially revealed, and the Xbox One we’re getting, are two different consoles, and God knows how many revisions it will see until its unspecified November launch.
