“Xbox on”, in just 5 markets.
Were you hoping to start a conversation with your Xbox One console when it launches in November? Were you excited with all the voice command gimmicks Microsoft introduced with this new console? If you’re living outside the US, UK, Canada, France or Germany, you’d better forget them until an unknown time post-launch.
Originally spotted by Gamespot on Xbox.com, Microsoft made known through a posting there that the Kinect-enabled voice commands are not coming to 8 of the 13 launch regions, which includes Italy and Australia.
Albert Penello, in an earlier interview, said that language localization is the primary problem the firm is facing, and thus decided to not make it available at launch worldwide.
Our take: Albeit not a huge problem, when one of your most-bragged-about technologies (in this case, Kinect-based experience) isn’t available on launch, but you’re launching the console anyway, it just strikes me as a company that’s unprepared and just going forth, whatever that may bring.
