Call of Duty: Ghosts Dedicated Servers Confirmed?

Call of Duty: Ghosts Dedicated Servers Confirmed?

We’ve never heard a Call of Duty executive talk so positive about dedicated servers, ever.

But in an interview with Eurogamer, when pressed about the feature, Infinity Ward executive producer Mark Rubin teased that there could be something in the making when it pertains to Call of Duty, dedicated servers, and next-gen versions of the game.

“I can’t talk about it yet!” Rubin said. “We’re not talking about anything dedicated server-related yet.”

So he used the word “yet” twice in his response, yet that wasn’t all he had to say, and for the first time, we hear a Call of Duty developer praising the “clouds”, or what amounts to dedicated servers, hinting that there will be an announcement coming at a later date.

“Cloud-based computing, or whatever you want to call it, is a really interesting territory that games… even the games that are using it now are just barely looking under the covers,” Rubin went on.

“There will be a lot people will do with that technology in future games. I don’t know what, necessarily. It’s the new unexplored territory. So I’m really interested in seeing what comes out of it.

“Right now all the games are using it in the ways anybody would think they’re using it, basically: dedicated servers. But I’m hoping there’s more that comes from that. I don’t know what that will be in the future, but I’m excited about it. It’s a really cool feature.”

If dedicated servers will be the order of the day on Xbox One, you can bet your bottom dollar it’ll be the same on PS4, so it’s interesting to hear more leading up to the game’s release in November.

By the way, GamesCom’s just days away.
