Microsoft has confirmed the territories in which Xbox One will launch this year, but sadly, for many who live in the Caribbean, the console won’t be available until 2014.
But it’s not only the Caribbean, eight European countries were also excluded from the launch of Xbox One. Said countries are Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Netherlands, Norway, Russia, Sweden and Switzerland.
Microsoft apologized for the delay, and said many factors, though it didn’t list them, were to blame. A free game was also promised for those who’d already preordered a console from one of the affected countries.
While we wish we could launch Xbox One simultaneously in these markets, there are many factors that determine the timing of specific market launches. This includes work to localize the Xbox One dash, incorporate additional voice and languages, and build partnerships to bring apps and meaningful local content to each country.
We understand this will be disappointing news for our fans in the impacted countries, and we are doing everything we can to bring Xbox One to you as soon as possible next year.
