Blizzard’s Titan probably won’t be subscription-based anymore

Blizzard changed Titan’s direction, as was made known during a call reporting Activision Blizzard’s second quarter 2013 earnings yesterday. Blizzard CEO Mike Morhaime said that Titan is “unlikely to be a subscription-based MMORPG”.

Blizzard’s CEO later noted the team is “in the process of selecting a new direction for the project and re-envisioning what we want the project to be” and that “commitment to quality has always been at the core of Blizzard’s values”. He also said the team has gone through similar changes in other “genre-defining” games, plus added that there is no projected or announced release date for Titan. Morhaime also said that some developers have been shifted from Titan to other projects like Blizzard All-Stars.

BlizzCon is coming this November, and hopefully, the next titan in the MMO scene (pun!) will have a shape, details, and a lot we can at least read, if not see.
