Sony ending online support for SOCOM, MAG

The end has come for military shooters SOCOM and MAG. On January 28, 2014, Sony will terminate online support for MAG, SOCOM: Confrontation and SOCOM: Special Forces. Zipper Interactive, the developer behind all these Playstation 3 games, was also closed down in March 2012.

Sony states the reason for the closure is “[The closure is] a result of a normal cycle of resource re-alignment within SCE WWS”.

Are you still playing these games online? I know I play my SOCOM every now and then, although I admit I won’t be devastated to see it go.

I always wanted to try out MAG.
    Oh well…

I wish another dev would pick up MAG. It was a great game until the original dev fell off the earth. Great game play and the user limit was way ahead of the curve. Worst part about the game.. online only. If you don’t have it, don’t buy it. Hope used game places pull it from the shelves so people don’t get it by mistake.
