In announcing its epic u-turn today about Xbox One DRM policies, Don Mattrick, in his long apologist letter to gamers, also mentioned that the upcoming console would be region-free.
“In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console — there will be no regional restrictions.”
I can’t say this enough, we haven’t seen such reversals in console history. Great day to be a gamer and witness such things.
