You won’t need to be connected to the internet to play games, no used games block, so what could greedy publishers do? Online pass all over again. And that’s something I can live with.
Speaking to Geoff Keighley in a GTTV interview, SCEA boss Jack Tretton said that, “the DRM decision for third-party games will be up to publishers.” First-party titles will not have DRM.
Tretton added:
The DRM decision is going to have to be in the hands of the third parties, yeah, that’s not something we’re going to dictate or control or mandate or implement.
But again, if the system does not require an internet connection and will not implement any form of DRM, the only solution I can see for publishers is going back to online pass.
Looking at you, EA.
