Microsoft Working To Address Xbox One DRM Concerns

Microsoft’s Xbox Live director of programming Larry ‘Major Nelson’ Hyrb jumped in the comments section of a post on his blog to address Xbox One’s DRM issue, after someone brought to his attention the #PS4NoDRM and #PS4UsedGames campaigns that’s exploded on twitter in recent days. Hyrb said that they are “fully aware” of the situation and are currently working on a few things to address it.

We’re fully aware of what is going on. I am also working on a few things to address it. I can’t say much more right now. But we ARE listening.

The internet erupted in rage earlier this week when Game Trailers journalist Geoff Keighley said he’d heard whispers that Sony, just like Microsoft, was working on some sort of used game-blocking DRM to be implemented in PS4. Sony’s since responded with hints that, if anything, it will allow publishers to choose to include the feature in their games, but as a company they’ll steer clear of the controversial feature.

If Microsoft actually changes its stance on the matter, it would be a huge win for gamers, and a testament to the force and impact of the internet.
