Xbox One Is Region Locked

Xbox One Is Region Locked

Microsoft has addressed the Xbox One’s regional restrictions, revealing that the console will only be able to play games from the region it’s located in.

A Microsoft representative shared the details with Digital Trends:

Similar to the movie and music industry, games must meet country-specific regulatory guidelines before they are cleared for sale. We will continue to work with our partners to follow these guidelines with Xbox One.

This isn’t surprising, as most systems have historically been locked to the region in which they’re bought, mostly because of differing regulations and taxation of various media content.
