Sony: “We Never Considered Always-Online For PS4″

While Microsoft is fighting with itself over the next Xbox and whether it should require an internet connection to play games or not, Sony’s never had that struggle, as the company never even “considered” the feature.

In the latest issue of GameInformer, Shuhei Yoshida, President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios for Sony Computer Entertainment, told the magazine that they’ve been mindful of gamers located in various areas of the world who are not as fortunate as the majority in western nations.

Did we consider it [always-online]? No, we didn’t consider it. The main reason being that many countries don’t have robust internet connections. It makes sense for people to have internet connections to play online games, but for offline games there are many countries that we saw do not really have robust internet… We didn’t even consider that [always-online].

You’ll be able to read the full interview in the June edition of GameInformer magazine when it hit store shelves in the coming days, or you can subscribe to the digital issue available now for PC, iOS, and Android platforms.
