Google To Announce Its Own Gaming Platform On May 15th

Disruption.

This one’s out of left field, folks. Google has started sending out invites to the press for a event its hosting on May 15th, where the company will reveal its vision of the gaming future.

It must be why Google hired a Chief Games Designer three days ago, one who’s worked on everything from arcade games, such as Sinistar, to recent hits, including Alan Wake. His name is Noah Falstein, a gaming industry veteran.

May 15th is just 6 days before May 21st, the day Microsoft will reveal the next Xbox. Interesting times ahead.

The real question here is, will Google actually launch a games console, or is this just a Google Play update? It must be a mix of both, right? Because who’d setup a dedicated event for a simple update? Google obviously wants the media to know about this, so there must be something of significance to be revealed.

Thanks, Gamefocus.
