Girl gamers want to play FIFA 14 as their own sex, not male studs acting like they rule the world, hence the new Change.org petition, calling for EA to add women in the upcoming FIFA 14.
The petition’s goal is to reach 20,000 supporters, at which point it’ll be sent to Brian Keaster, Senior Director of Customer Service Operations.
The petition makes known that 40 percent of football (soccer) players in the U.S. are women which, when combined with ESA’s data that confirms 47 percent of gamers as women, should be enough reason to add females to the game.
By offering just men’s teams as playable options on FIFA we’re not only denying these girls a chance to relate to the characters they play on a video game, but we’re also wasting a great opportunity to encourage those same girls to be who they are, develop their passion, motivation and promote a healthy image and relation between women and sports,” explains the petition.
Young girls can’t be portrayed by male video game characters. We want them to be able see themselves in the games they love, as the soccer players that inspire them.
Don’t restrict our choices to Messi, Rooney, Neymar, Cristiano Ronaldo. Allow girls and boys to play with Wambach, Sawa, Morgan, Cristiane, Miyama, Rapinoe, Marta, Hope Solo, Mia Hamm, Birgit Prinz.
The petition currently stands at over 8,500 supporters. If you agree with the cause, show your support here.
