The FPS genre has been, and still is dominating this current generation of consoles, with franchises like Call of Duty and Battlefield atop sales charts. But although Sony appreciates these successes, the company would “hate to see all PS4 games being FPS”, said Sony’s Worldwide Studios president Shuhei Yoshida in the latest issue of Edge.
Mark’s idea was like, “What about a Crash Bandicoot for PS4?” When he suggested the concept of Knack, we were like, “Yeah, we hate to see all the PS4 games being FPS or action-adventure or very photorealistic” – you know, big-budget blockbuster games.
We know that people like these games, but these are not the only kinds of games that people can have fun with.
Good to hear such words from Sony. Makes PS4 all the more exciting.
