PS Vita Sells 62,543 units During The Week Ending March 3rd In Japan

Since cutting the price of PS Vita in Japan, the portable console has seen its sales quadruple, selling a convincing 62,543 units during the week ending March 3rd, according to Japan’s Media Create.

Sony’s handheld couldn’t topple Nintendo’s 3DS, however, as that machine saw sales of 77,439 – an average figure, during that same week.

The jump from below 10,000 to over 60,000 is indeed significant, but the true test will be whether Vita will be able to perform exceptional on a weekly basis, a la 3DS.

anyone know where i can get memory cards for vita for cheap…

  • http://www.gamesthirst.com Ernice Gilbert

@Afrotrav: man, those memory cards are costly! 32GB cards for $74.99 – still costly, but a good deal considering…. Bestbuy, that same card is almost $100 on Amazon.

  • Alex Mason

@afrotravis: Listen to Ernice, buying a 32 GB will definitely be helpful at that price. Since I think you have PS+.

wonder, is the spike because of persona 4 and other games that would be very popular in JP?
or is it because of the price drop?
im betting more the former than the latter.
vita has had so few games for 5 months now, and persona 4 is what the first JRPG to be released for the vita?
it was inevitable once that released the vitas sales would spike!
