Your Current PSN Saves And Purchases Won’t Carry Over To PS4

ps4psn

Sony worldwide studio boss Shuhei Yoshida has revealed to Engadget that saves and purchases gamers have made on the current generation PSN won’t shift over to PlayStation 4 because of the PS3′s difficult architectural build.

That’s what the man said. He did not mince words, either.

this is why i always buy hard copies to avoid crap like this.

Yeah, that’s some serious mess right there. Hard copies for the win! :D

but its not backwards compatible so it doesn’t matter if you buy hard copies or not does it?
surely this information is stored on your user account? i have 2 ps3′s and it is so ridiculously easy to move DLC content from one to the other. Surely if i logged on to my new ps4 with my PSN account it wouldn’t be hard to keep my information stored so i could transfer that content to the ps4?!! the architectural build of the ps3 is irrelevant in my eyes. This is a very bad idea from Sony.

Bad move indeed. They’d have to compensate gamers in some way, shape or form, right? I mean… What about all the PS Plus games? What happens there? Lots of questions need to be answered.

People are freaking out about this. Just keep your ps3…problem solved. When PS3 had backwards compat, people said it was too expensive. They took it away and dropped the price. Folks just have to complain about something. Sorry to sound harsh but COME ON PEOPLE!!! If its that big a deal…KEEP YOUR PS3!!!! Sony wants people to enjoy the new experiences that the ps4 will bring. They listened to feedback from devs and consumers and put together a beast of a system that will be easily programmed for. So NO MORE SKYRIM TYPE S**T FOR PS4!! Im just ranting now…my bad.

@foxton i don’t care too much about backwards compatibility because i keep all my systems. so its not an issue, sure it would be nice to have everything connected to one hub. but it really doesn’t matter.

as long as i platinum the game or beat it to my furthest… i careless about saves…. *tht is just me*

@Ghost, im not overaly bothered about backwards compatibaility either. Just seems to be a big minus for critics, Like benzo said you can just keep your ps3 so its not too much of an issue, but it would of been nice to be able to play downloaded games on ps4 simply because when your ps3 breaks its gone forever because the PS4 wont be able to play it. (unless of course you pay a premium for it on your ps4,like you do for ps one and ps2 games now, another reason why its not backwards compatible) Your original post was irrelevant because wether you have a hrad copy or not it doesnt make a differenece, your still not gonna be able to play it on your new console.
I have 28 games saved on my ps3 hard drive, 28!! its not hard for sony to make these files readable on a ps4 surely? they are just purposely ensuring i cant transfer these digital files over to the ps4 to try and milk as much money out of me as possible, and its that what i dont like. Ive been with playstation since day one and dread to think how many £k’s i have given them, yet they just fuck me over by doing this, and this is why people are annoyed. Now im ranting too so im gonna stop lol

    games obviously, but save files!?
so WTFs the point of the streaming service gaikai is going to offer if you have to start your games all over again!?
way to destroy the system before its even out $ony!
and another story, yoshi wont confirm if the ps4 is region free or not.
    sigh.
come on $ony, dont pull this BS on us!
region locking serves NO purpose what so ever!
but to stop people from importing things, force us to pay the ridiculous criminal prices they put to us!
