We were hyped to the ceiling, but did Sony deliver? I believe so. The event was one of the best I’ve seen, and I’ll surely go back and watch it again – but what did you make of it? People around gaming’s web and other media outlets are hailing it as a home run, do you think it was?

in a word, no. the reveal where they didnt actually reveal it, didnt tell us how much its gonna cost or infact when exactly it will come out! not gonna post the same comments that i just posted on previous thread. Been surfing the net all morning and Ernice i have to say the comments ive been reading are not a home run as you put it, probably more slightly negative than positive but we all know the Brits like to moan and are very scepitcal.
No backwards compatibility is a very brave move and could ultimately be their downfall!!!

It’ll be backwards compatible, bro. I’ll have that thread up in a bit. Also, I didn’t expect them to reveal the price, at least not yet..

And it’ll release this year, but in EU it’s still uncertain – hopefully they can pull it off.

it isnt backwards compatible, however they may release old games catalouges via the cloud system at some point which you will obviously have to pay a premium for. And they are very sceptical about the release date, as if they are already expecting to be delayed. Im just not so sure it lived up to all the hype.

it was a good conference but square enix and crapcom totally ruined the flow of it to me. they should just stayed away. killzone: SF looks good probably wont buy it though alas i’m not really into killzone much these days. Infamous: 2nd Son was the highlight for me, Watch_Dogs is day 1 purchase for me. media molecule embarrassed themselves with that stupid PS Move presentation, knack looks okay its not for me though, destiny looked good but the funniest thing was bungie announcing exclusive content only for PlayStation. that has got to be the biggest snub ever to microsoft, i couldn’t help but laugh. dablo 3 don’t really care for, drivers club i think was the name, i don’t care about that because i only play kart racers. really interested with quantic dream does with PS4. one of the main things that pissed me off was that there is no backwards compatibility at the very least i expected to be able to play PS1 & PS2 games since the tech is very cheap but none at all sucks.

@Foxton: too early for release date and overall I thought it lived up to the hype. We got the games, powerful machine and a lot of support. Big news is it won’t block used games! Home run conference imo.

@Ghost: Yeah, great conference. Don’t know what SE is up to, but I was hoping to see FFV13.. I also expected Battlefield 4 to be there….

when i saw onmisuha i was like OMG crapcom is about to announce a new onimusha game. because ono said he wanted to produce the next game. but what major disappointment. this is why i have lost faith in japanese developers. because they are so out of touch in what consumers want. the only japanese developers that actually keep japanese gaming alive is Kojima Productions, From Software, & Nintendo.

Yep. The rest have tried to “cater” to Western gamers by making the games more “westernized” but, um, we don’t want that! And they don’t get it!

yea watch dogs did steal the show, but i find myself really excited for infamous 2nd son. i hope its a launch title along with watch dogs.

Didn’t Second Son reminded you, ironically, of Watch Dogs? In the beginning, while the Sucker Punch guy was explaining, I actually thought it was Watch Dogs! – sounded so similar.

it must be real, this was the exact bit he did in the meeting and then uploaded to their facebook and twitter pages. You can tell because he wasnt overaly good at shooting, just like last night, opting to shoot some helgahst in the knee’s rather than go for headshots lol.

How will the headphone jack work on the controller? obvioulsy you will still need a mic? or is there one built into the controller??!!
or will it not support headsets, only sound

Concerning the controller’s jack. I’m assuming you’ll be able to plug a headset in there, and there’s a built in mic, I believe.

the event itself?
spectacular!
it was acutally really nice to see the engineers working on the thing come out and explain the thinking behind it.
normally we get the PR guys showing a system off, and at that we get VERY few technical details this early on, and the behind the scenes, what we were doing 2 years ago, thats never mentioned!
it was nice to get a insight on the creation of the thing over the years.
they did everything they should of, besides showing the system obviously but hey they have to save something for E3!
as for the content that was revealed, thats a whole other kettle of fish.
i was just expecting MORE!
SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many people have jumped ship to PC because there just sick of being held back by consoles!
and this is $onys responce to that, there going to win people back, people who have become acustomed to high spec PCs, with this already outdated disappointment?
thats like taking a F1 drivers current car and saying here you go, heres a formula ford car from 2 years ago!
a step down in technology and competitiveness, and a step down in currency too.
a 2 year old el chepo laptop will run rings around the ps4, let alone a el chepo 2013 laptop!

i was just expecting more…….. ALLOT more!
and after seeing the UE4 and the luminous
tech demos over a year ago running on PC, than FINALLY see next gen systems the things the engines were built for, and have them looking worse than what they did over a year ago, REALLY HURT!
come on $ony, 7 years of evolution and progress, and this is the best you can come up with!?
i always said father ken is the ONLY reason they made it into the industry, he is the ONLY reason they were successful, and his departure would be the death of the company!
but they dident have to prove it to me……..
vita first device released without him, and its a epic flop!
ps4 is set to make it 2 from 2!
