yeah i realise that, but if people do love the game why are they taking 19 months to buy it???

@Foxton why did people take 5 years to buy GTA IV? who knows? i’m more surprised that game is still in the charts let alone skyrim.

marketing thats why! i noticed it in one of the main superstores on the back wall with all the new releases with signs saying “buy one of the greatest games of all time for only £12!” If any of the big stores has a price drop of advertising campaign in has a strong effect on the charts because sales are so minimal outside of the top 5 or so. Thats why Far Cry 3 reached No.1 at the beginning of the year because everywhere slashed it to £20
Skyrim has been at £25 for well over a year now thats why i still find it amazing thats its still there!!

    not exactly surprising.
1 we havent had many games release this year so far.
2 most havent been from big name franchises, and if they have they have had allot of fan backlash ie metal gear rising or DmC.
3 this is in a genre that is pretty much non existent, so when people hear of a game thats suppose to be horror, it instantly sets the excitement up no matter what it is!
4 its aliens, one of THE best most successful franchises in the history of the WORLD!
shame were still yet to have a game that does the name justice!
    :(
as for why games are still on charts years after release, with skyrim dont forget the DLC just came out on ps3 so thats one reason.
another allot of people dont buy it for a few years because 1 they have a massive backlog, and 2 want to wait till the price drops.
i STILL havent finished RDR, only got like 2 hours left, but havent had a chance to touch it since like 2 weeks after release because ive got so many other games to finish!
not to mention i want to finish BLUR and split second, another 2 games im like not even 3 levels into.
not to mention alpha protocol, and the really long CLOS!

Nick yeah i get your point about Skyrim and the DLC and the backlog issues, i still have loads of games i want to buy but just waiting for the right time when i dont have such a backlog and the price is right.
and as for RDR, you gotta finish it amazing ending, totally did not expect it!

    yup its on my list.
dunno why but i finished the DLC before i finished the game, that was smart.
exactly why i get so pissed off when so many games release so close together, every game gets a quarter finished than i end up forgetting if ive finished it or not.
so many games i actually enjoyed but havent finished because i havent had a chance to, or cant remember if i actually liked it or not.
red faction armageddon for instance, i was so excited for that, got it and played a short bit of it, and now i cant remember if i actually liked it or not and if i should grab it again to finish it.
publishers, do us all a favor and learn how to read calendars!
and at least TRY to spread your games as far away from other releases as possible!
another perfect example rising, loved the demo but its coming out the same day as crysis 3 so i probably wont pick it up till july.
but then im on holidays that month, and august is pretty full already, and the rest of the year is already pretty full.
    so………
