Not A Moment Like This, Not In History

When you were a child, you saw great things, things that might have been simple and mundane to adults brought excitement that overwhelmed your mind. It’s a reason why many look back on their childhood as the days they had the most fun… Not because all was well, but because children find the greatest joy in the simplest of things, and all mommy and daddy had to do was buy you a new toy, shoe or clothes, and you’d be the happiest person on earth.

But with time things changed, and that’s because you got older and responsibility for you turned to you. Excitement is far and in between. Life has turned to work and work, life. Girlfriends and boyfriends come and go, you’re waiting to get married but whatever… Life goes on. You party for a bit and come home drunk, then realize that it’s not satisfying at all. Or…

… You’ve made yourself a successful path, but even then life seems unfulfilled. Your only getaway is your gaming pastime. However that, too, leaves you wanting… PS3, Xbox 360 didn’t excite you that much, and Lord have mercy, the Wii U isn’t appealing to you, either. You haven’t been excited about gaming for a while – but… something has been happening these past few days…

… That excitement and unexplained joy you used to have as a child seem to be flooding your soul like water bursting through a levee… You remember it well: PlayStation! That brand held you captive as a child, from PSone to PS2, but things changed with PS3, as Xbox 360 stole the show – but there must be a comeback coming! There’s no other way to explain this emotion… this sensation – this, this feeling.

You’d said to yourself that there would not be a moment like this, not in history, not ever again, when you used to get excited about PlayStation and Gran Turismo, Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, Crash Bandicoot , MediEvil, Devil May Cry, Onimusha – and all the other great games that kept your youthfulness alive! In fact, come to think of it, you’d lost that passion for gaming… A passion that’s suddenly vaulted back to the forefront of your desires like a mad-rushing sea wave. You can feel it- no! you can taste it, and can’t wait to quench it…

PlayStation is about to make a big comeback, your pessimistic view on the games industry has been disavowed.

Yes, there’s a moment like this in history.

Sony’s nailed this marketing strategy. The hype for PS4 is universal and powerful.

i have to say im not as excited as all you lot appear to be lol, and i also have to say their marketing strategy has been appalling, if i didnt visit this site i wouldn’t have a clue about this announcement coming! Not a single decent bit of news in the uk mainstream that i am aware of.
Yeah ps4 coming out, and yeah its gonna be bad ass, and yeah ill buy it, but its definitely not the same excitement as some as other life experiences. Im sure witnessing the birth of your child will top it! Also witnessing England win the world cup final would definitely top it too!
But yeah make no bones about it im looking forward to it, but maybe nothing like as i excited as i would be about other things

@Foxton: I didn’t say in the article that you wouldn’t be excited about other things, like, as you noted, witnessing the birth of your child. Nothing should get a person more excited than their newborn!
I spoke of specifically of PlayStation. Like the old days! Getting excited about the old games, the old reveals! There’s that vibe with the upcoming PS4.
