Sony Ditching DualShock Controller With PS4, Developer Says

Sony will finally ditch the DualShock controller with the PlayStation 4, opting for something completely different, a developer working on a PS4 title has told CVG.

Experiments within Sony’s R&D department are thought to have been extensive. Versions of the new PS4 pad include biometric sensors on the grips and an LCD touch screen, the development source claimed.

A second source, working in a separate part of the industry but still connected to Sony, said PlayStation engineers are “trying to emulate the same user interface philosophies as the PS Vita”. This is likely a reference to the touch-screen capabilities of the PlayStation handheld, and a suggestion that Sony will tightly integrate its portable and home systems.

PS4 will be revealed in a matter of weeks, not months, claims the CVG source.

ehhhh…. i really hope that DS3 is compatible wit PS4. because im not using a controller with a sh**ty ass screen in the middle of it. if they give Dual-shock as an alternate then fine. but i don’t want to be forced into playing a certain way, like the way nintendo forces people to use that stupid tablet.

We shall see what the future holds for the Sony controller. I like the design of the dualshock

    I hope so!
As I said earlier the way we play our games in decades!
    look at the arcade cabinets.
    Buttons that’s it!
    NES buttons thats it!
PS1 buttons and eventually vibration yay SO amazing!
the ps2 had a cool concept with the eye toy but even today the techs not up to scratch.
The patents $onys been filing, biometric sensors, a system that heats or cools the device, the ds and move controller combined.
VR, AR, NFC, were FINALLY starting to look to new ways we can interact and enjoy the things we love!
