Sony Patents New PlayStation Controller That Breaks In Half, Includes Motion Sensors

A new Sony patent dug up by TSA all but confirms the PlayStation Omni rumor we reported on earlier today, especially in light of the patent’s confirmation of motion technology being incorporated into the new controller, one we’re guessing is being forged for PS Omni.

The rumor claimed that PS Omni’s “controllers, whether it’s the Duo-Moves or the Classic DuoShock, will have pulse sensors in the grips for biofeedback gameplay.”

According to the patent, each half of the controller can also feature motion-sensing technology like a gyroscope, accelerometer and magnetometer. That’s on top of rumble, a speaker and analogue stick/button inputs.

There are similarities in there, and the rumor is on point with the integrated “sensor” portion.

sony shouldn’t have made no motion controls at all. sony would’ve been the one that was different out of the three and took complete hold of the hardcore market but no they just had to follow suit. now look what happened move it is a complete and utter failure i can only imagine what projects were dropped because this motion control crap. one thing that comes to mind is the unreleased Heavy Rain DLC. instead of putting that out sony told quantic to make move controls for heavy rain. pathetic….. a quick sale from a casual gamer can’t get a company far when hardcore gamers spend the most money and is where these companies generate the most profit.
