Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter believes Sony will release PS4 by next October, the latest being November of the same year, because the company does not want a repeat of 2005, when Microsoft upstaged PS3 by releasing Xbox 360 one year earlier, and in doing so changing the rules of the industry forever.
Here’s what he said:
It isn’t likely that they will launch earlier, as it doesn’t make sense to get out too far in front of software, and I’m pretty confident that few developers have been working on PS4 games for more than a year or so. Holiday 2013 will be a comfortable window for Sony, and will give them a chance to get a head start on Microsoft.
Pachter also said PS3 will continue to sell very well after the launch of PS4, predicting at least three more years for the console once the new system is launched.

i wouldent be surprised if the ps4 sees a similar launch pattern to the vita..
late november / early december for JP, than probably early feb for the rest of the world.
december for everyone would be ideal that way everyone gets it at the same time, but that would cause shortages and server havoc!
wish they would release it earlier than feb, jan would be a much better month because theres never many games releasing then.
but manufactures like to release things when theres tons of other content releasing, so thats unlikely.
all i know is that when the PS4 is announced im pre-ordering it first day and im camping outside a store for its release. i’ve always wanted to camp out for a system so id figure id start with the PS4.

especially when you can preorder that way you have your order locked down and you can go pick it up during the day, probably when the lines will be a hell of allot shorter!
i remember working at myer on the launch of the ps3, we were switching the server batteries that whole month so we had to wait till 10PM when no one was there otherwise they couldent finish their work.
a week before the ps3 released there was already a line starting to grow, and as the hours went by the line got longer.
people standing out in the freezing cold, sometimes raining, just so they can get a product a few hours early.
