PS Vita sales jump up on Japanese charts, But hardware charts still belong to Nintendo

PS Vita Level Up In Japan

The PS Vita hasn’t been doing very well in Japan until this week, where it rose to 4th place on the weekly charts.

The PS Vita actually sold an extra 9,000 more units than last week, and the PlayStation 3 also enjoyed a small rise. Vita rose over PSP by selling 13,091 in sales.

The figures show that the 3DS XL is leading with 117,435 sales, slightly lower than last week, the 3DS is in second place with 51,441 sales and finally the PS3 in third place with 17,035 sales.

Here are the figures:

1. 3DS XL – 117,435 (Last week – 134,652)
2. 3DS – 51,441 (52,425)
3. PlayStation 3 – 17,035 (18,043)
4. PlayStation Vita – 13,091 (4,021)
5. PSP – 12,217 (12,076)
6. Wii – 3,001 (2,921)
7. Xbox 360 – 2,063 (2,908)
8. PS2 – 723 (1,187)
9. DSi – 196 (180)
10. DSi LL – 157 (244)

In the top 10 software sales we are seeing Animal Crossing: New Leaf still at the top with Assassin’s Creed 3 at 2nd.

1. [3DS] Animal Crossing: New Leaf
2. [PS3] Assassin’s Creed III
3. [3DS] New Super Mario Bros. 2
4. [PSP] Summon Night 4
5. [PS3] Medal of Honor: Warfighter
6. [PSV]Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation
7. [PS3] Dynasty Warriors 7: Empires
8. [PS3] Need for Speed: Most Wanted
9. [3DS] Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate
10. [PS3] Tales of Xillia 2

It’s good to see Vita rising with the new software update that fixed and upgraded many Vita apps that were working slowly. The portable console was also helped by some big-name game releases.

Thanks Gematsu.

why would 51441 people buy a 3DS when they could buy a XL?
unless there cheaper over there, but here there the same price in fact retailers have stopped stocking the older models.
shame they stopped selling them here i preferred the nicer shinny metallic look of the older model.
one thing i will never understand, every time a system is redesigned it has to look worse.
fat to slim ps3, fat looked WAY nicer!
even slim to super slim ps3, the plastic of the disc tray rattles so much its driving me nuts!
the rest of the console the shinny black scratches so god dam easily, ive only had mine for a month and it already looks like a tigers attacked it!
only device thats been redesigned that actually does not look worse is the 360.
but why, why does every redesigned system have to look worse than its replacement?

why would people buy a psp over a psvita? no more good games are being made for it

@narwall: Although there are not many games anymore, you forgot the biggest things the PSP was made for. Homebrew. You can play whatever you want on it, pokemon, pirated PSP games, emulated Nintendo games, Gamebuy colour. That is why people still buy it.

Yeah, but not online. Just the single player since pirated version’s MP didn’t work.
