Splinter Cell Movie To Star Tom Hardy

Splinter Cell Movie To Star Tom Hardy

Tom Hardy will star in “Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell,” Ubisoft’s film adaptation of its popular videogame franchise that Eric Warren Singer will write for the publisher.

The project will be the second major movie based on one of Ubisoft’s IPs that the firm is looking to get in theaters after setting up “Assassin’s Creed” at New Regency and Fox, that Michael Fassbender will co-produce and headline.

Ubisoft is now in preliminary talks with Warner Bros. and Paramount.

Hardy will play Sam Fisher, a highly-trained special operative in a fictional black-ops operation called Echelon.

Thesp recently played Bane in WB’s “The Dark Knight Rises” and is shooting “Mad Max: Fury Road.”

Singer also penned Black List script “American Bullshit,” which David O. Russell will direct with Christian Bale, Bradley Cooper and Jeremy Renner set to star.

“Tom Hardy is currently one of the biggest talents in the film industry, and he has a phenomenal ability to take on complex and varied roles with his broad range of acting skills,” said Jean-Julien Baronnet, CEO of Ubisoft Motion Pictures. “His involvement in the ‘Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell’ movie is exciting news for movie and video game fans alike. Meanwhile, Eric Singer is one of the most talented writers of the moment, and … we’re confident he’ll bring a fresh approach and create a thrilling story … while still respecting all the codes and traditions of the franchise that are so important to fans.”

BOOM, more crappy movie games. Why doesn’t anyone know that making a movie from a game or a game from a movie results in crap most of the time? Only good game was Wolverine: Origins.

its got nothing to do with movie to game or vice versa, they normally suck because they dont get the budget and time they deserve, or the right talent in the movie cases.
this will be different though, ubisoft have their writers doing the story and they have a large stake in everything else so this should be sweet!
look at the recent PoP film, that was actually pretty good!
now that ubisoft has killed AC, im hoping will see a new PoP soon.
really miss the old series, especially warrior within that had such a dark gritty vibe to it!

Hope-fully Ubisoft will do it right, also that Uncharted movie that those people are making.
