Black Ops 2 is now available the world over, and reviews for the game have flooded in the internet like a world war. Great news for developer Treyarch is, virtually every site scored the game 8 or above, with IGN settling for 9.3/10, GameTrailers 9.4/10 and Kotaku with a “Yes”. All scores are inside.
Concluded Games Radar:
Treyarch blasts away ‘franchise fatigue’ with one of the best Call of Duty experiences to date. Black Ops II delivers on all fronts. Zombies drops you into an intense, expansive world with untold secrets to discover, multiplayer’s Pick 10 system and Scorestreaks open up new strategies to exploit, and the single-player campaign warrants repeat visits from its captivating, branching storyline. Treyarch introduces new ideas to the tried-and-true game mechanics of the series and improves upon them. Every aspect of the game has been honed to a razor-sharp experience, complete with beautiful visuals and rock-solid controls. Thought you were done with Call of Duty? Think again. This is the new Call of Duty. This is the definitive Call of Duty. And this is a shooter that absolutely can’t be missed.
Concluded Giant Bomb:
It’s weird to come away feeling positive about a game right after you’ve just told someone that a full third of it is essentially useless to you, but then Call of Duty: Black Ops II is a big game with a whole lot going on. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel, and some of the multiplayer changes feel more like they’re propping up an aging concept rather than truly moving it forward, even though it’s still a good way to spend time with your online friends. For me, it’s the notion that Call of Duty is showing some terrific signs of life on the campaign side that left me the most impressed. It’s got its share of flaws, but overall Treyarch has assembled a great, fast, and fun first-person shooter that, even if you were thinking about finally skipping a year, is still worth your time.
And IGN said:
The team at Treyarch could have played it safe and Black Ops II would have sold well, but instead they challenged assumptions and pushed the series forward in awesome new directions. It’ll be hard to return to a campaign where I don’t have the ability to shape it, and I simply can’t imagine going back to the old loadout system now that Pick 10 exists. Combined with the host of subtle and overt improvements to the array of other systems, the additions to make it more appealing to Esports, and the more fleshed out Zombies mode, this is not just a fantastic Call of Duty game, but one of the best shooters of the last decade.

so did anyone go to the midnight release of this game? i saw at best buy they were letting people in the store playing the game, giving away free stuff and i was like man im gonna start going to midnight launches at best buy from now on lol
I’m really liking how COD Declassified is turning out too.

People have rated it very high on the PSN store, metacritic and hopefully review sites like you guys. I’m just waiting for my COD Hardened edition now.
“one of the best shooters this decade”
so its not the best but one of the best in the past 2 and a half years? and this is just shooters not all genres? and just how good is one of the best?
top 5? top 10? top 20?
In my eyes thats not a good statement. meh all i need to know is its cod so its bound to be shit
Hate all you want, Foxton! LOL! You’re missing out on some hot action!

But nothing tops Killzone. Nothing!
And by the way, a decade is 10yrs. Not 2.
no you say THIS decade, that to me means the 2010′s like we talk of the 60′s 70′ and 80′s as decades. If you had said the best in A decade i might of thought it would of been the last ten years. and even if it was one of the best in the last ten years, what FPS was so good that was released in 2002 for them to make that statement?! why didnt they just said greatest ever as i doubt there are many FPS’s created pre 2002 that wuld match the FPS’s of today.

so sorry, im not buying that Ernice
Also let me correct you slighty, nothing tops Killzone 2
Mind you BF3 is pretty close….
Ha! Killzone 2 was a tad better than KZ3, and the decade portion is talking about 2002 – 2012. Also, You’ll never know until you try. You’re hating one the game blindly. And BF3 does comes close, I must admit. Hopefully KZ4 will push back with vengeance!
These reviews bother me. They are good scores and this is the first Cod that I have been excited for since Cod 4 because I feel Treyarch tries to be different and it shows. The reason the reviews bother me is because they talk about it being one of the best Cods and pushing the series forward and easing the series fatigue but they still score it lower then Mw3 which is easily the worst in the series. I just don’t understand. IW can release the same rehashed crap every year and get praise across the board, while Treyarch tries to push the series forward and people love it and still score it lower. It just bothers me.
I agree with you there, Josh. Especially CVG’s review, which scored the game 7.8/10. Now, if you read their review, you’d realize that gave the game glowing praise, and inadvertently said it was better than MW3 by miles. By miles! But the ended up giving Black Ops 2, the most ambitious Call of Duty to date, 7.8/10 – while scoring Modern Warfare 3 9? Really. I don’t understand that one bit. Not one bit. I think CVG tried going the contrary route this time around, but they did it for the wrong game. Sad. It’ll remain with them as a bad sore.
the CoD series the way i see it
COD4 – groundbreaking, the best in the series by far
WAW – umm who even cares
MW2 – series high for me, regardless of its flaws
BO – thought it was garbage, too easy
MW3 – even more garbage
BO2 – and i’ve played enough garbage already.
You played Blops 2, Ghost?
Ghost even though everyone has their own opinions I have to disagree with you, I just got BO from my friend to practice up for BO2 and my oh my how it felt great playing Multiplayer and Single-Player. Every COD game before MW3 was great, and I think by the videos and reviews I have seen BO2 is the best in the series with the multiple endings in SP, the balanced MP, the ever-fun Zombies and so many more things. You my sir should play ET for the Atari and then know what is called garbage.
@grim dude i honestly could not stand black ops. coming from MW2, the people on their to be frank just flat out sucked, i sold that game and went back to MW2. when MW3 was first coming out i had high expectation for it. but when i got it man that game was probably the CoD out of all of them. it was drastic from MW2 that the only thing they shared was the setting. that game played exactly like black ops.
@ernice no haven’t played it but thats the point though i’ve played enough crappy CoD games that i don’t have the urge to play that game. Activision already fooled me twice, i aint gonna be fooled again.
Sometimes, you just have to try one more time, because sometimes that’s when you win the million bucks!
Well cant wait to throw this in my xbox, didnt make it to the midnight opening was too cold out here in canada to stay and wait!
im about half way through now and its exactly what i was expecting.
i wish they stuck with the old style, i really enjoyed BOs slow paced more gritty feel.
this feels FAR too much like IWs games, especially the story swinging back and forward between timelines and characters, it has allot more michael bay moments, and is FAR more as they say brotastic.
everything that made treyarch better and unique has been thrown out the window.
sigh, why are developers so hell bent on being clones of one another!?
when and why did uniqueness become a crime in this industry?
judgung by the forums people are having loads of issues. Activision have even tweeted saying they are aware of issues and are trying to fix them. Most of the comment ive seen on forums are negatvie towards the games too, an these are comming from diehard codheads, not a hater like me.
Oh dear avtivision looks like you have hyped this too far. Now i really really hope this is the beginning of the end for this tripe
@Foxton: bro, what are you doing in COD forums? LOL! Silent lover, I see.
– anyway, 100 percent of gamers I ask about the game, yes, 100 percent has given raving reviews.
And by the way, that’s what sells a game, fan-excitement and approval more than anything else.
@ernice nahhh, i d rather spend my hard earned money on games that deserve it like bioshock infinte.
No worries, man! I’ll be getting those too!
im a regular on the PS3t forums because im a trophy hunter and need to organise my FIFA online pro team
i thought id have a look on the blops 2 page to see what the general consensus for the game was. Yes im a hater but im not just gonna bitch about a game for the sake of it. The vast majority of threads are about issues people are having. The general consensus is that it is not as good as any of the others. You have just said 100% of gmers gave raving reviews? well who have you asked? and like josh pointed out earlier they say its one of the best games in a decade yet they rate it lower than MW3. Honestly go and have a look for yourself http://www.ps3trophies.org/forum/call-duty-black-ops-ii/
Most of my friends who have got this are bitching about it on Facebook. There is a serious amount of negativity about this game, more so than any of the others IMO
I haven’t seen it, bro. Honestly. I people I ask are my friends on PSN – and yes, 100 percent of them tell me they’re having a blast. I’ll see what you’re talking about. Believe me, if it’s as widespread as you claim. We’ll report it on your favorite site!
ha ha thanks man, dont worry your still my number one gaming site!
